David Michael Scott
David Michael Scott is an Australian born actor who completed an Arts Degree with a double major in Drama and a major in Literature at the University of Queensland and went on to study acting at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA).
David has worked in television, theatre and film playing roles in Home and Away, Water-Rats, All Saints, Murder Call, and Breakers, and in a variety of short and feature films. David's theatre work is extensive. Most recent work in Australia includes Michael in Frank McGuiness' Someone Who'll Watch Over Me, Jack in The Importance of Being Earnest, The Soldier in Sarah Kane's Blasted.
David moved to Ireland in 2004 and immediately played roles in Fair City, The Clinic, Damage and appeard twice in Showtime's award-winning television series The Tudors in its second and fourth season. He also played Cuchulain in Blue Raincoat Theatre Company's production of At the Hawk's Well. Most recently he played Austin in Sam Shepard's True West.
David's artistic pursuits are many and varied and he has become a highly regarded teacher of acting, developing a powerful and practical technique that he passes on to hundreds of students around Ireland. He is a valued tutor at the Gaiety School of Acting, The Irish Film Academy and Backstage Academy of the Performing Arts. He has also taught for Stagewise, Stageworks and the Drama League of Ireland and for many companies and theatre groups across Ireland. He has produced and directed many showcases and plays for the students of the Gaiety School.
In 2006 David formed Company D Theatre with a group of like-minded actors and since then has directed and produced ten shows with the company, seven of which he has written: Tonight We Kill God, The Repeated Bombing of Philip Boucher-Hayes, The Celtic Spider, "Luurrv!", in nineteen sixteen, The Ending and "A Play". Through Company D, David trains some of Ireland's finest emerging actors and enjoys producing extraordinary and cutting-edge theatre.
David appeared in season one of the highly acclaimed series GAME OF THRONES, based on George R.R Martin's 'A Song of Fire and Ice' for HBO. He recently completed filming the role of Nils in Vikings (World 2000/Take 5) written by Michael Hirst, to be aired worldwide in 2013 on the History Channel.
